A poem about context
Context gives meaning.
Off beauty I’m weaning
Unless it contains
Some truthful remains
About stories untold
As lives unfold.
Context gives meaning
Like those who are gleaning
Add value to the world
As crops are unfurled
Meeting a need
With a surplus of feed.
Context gives meaning
Like a plot that starts leaning
Toward the moral of the story
In every allegory
Because without circumstance
The point cannot dance.
Context is needed,
For purpose is heeded.
Without the background,
Conclusions lack ground.
Context reminds us
The meaning behind “thus.”
“Hello, how are you?”
Means nothing without
The years we fluttered
Separately about.
