Snowflake
My pattern is completely unique to any other.
I fall and dissolve atop your tongue.
You were wrong about me. I am a snowflake,
And you were not wise just because I was young.
If you were an element, you would be air -
The emptiness I descended through.
You were wrong about me. I am a snowflake,
And I'm proud to say I was nothing like you.
You can see the fog from my breath on the windows
As my lungs convert you into warm air.
You were cold, even a snowflake would say,
But - unlike me - you seemed to not care.
You were inside me like oxygen in H2O.
You came and went like a winter snow.
I was right about me. I am a snowflake.
I breathed you in, and now I let you go.
