The Search
I did a word search puzzle yesterday, and I realized how much easier it was to find words when I knew which exact one I was looking for. At a glance, it’s a block of random letters that mean nothing. It looks overwhelming, and I think to myself, how the hell will I find fifty words in this? But then I look at the list of words I’m meant to find, choose one, and my eyes begin to catch it hidden amidst the letters. I notice certain patterns in the vowels and consonants. It jumps out at me as if it leapt off the page and crawled into the sockets of my eyes. I think the same rule applies to life. We find what we look for. I can refine my search by getting specific about what I want, what is meant for me, and what feels like it’s missing. It’s like how I tend to see a lot of royal blue 2003 Chevrolet Cavaliers on the highway. This was the car my first love drove. I’m sure I see the same amount of them as I did before I met her. But some part of me still misses her, misses us. And now, not one of them goes unseen. Something in my brain alerts me that this is what I’m looking for. If you want to find something, you have to picture what it looks like. You have to analyze every aspect of it. That way, it’ll be crystal clear when it’s right in front of you. You’ll see it as if it’s something you see every day. Because, in your mind, it is. Envision your dream when you wake up each morning, and soon, you’ll find that it exists all around you.
